2021 Duvarita Pinot Noir

Raised 28 months on the lees in a single once-used French Oak Barrel. Unfined and Unfiltered. 25 Cases produced.

The 2021 Duvarita Vineyard Pinot Noir is beautifully structured and balanced. Ripe strawberry and dark cherry cola greet you on the nose with hints of toffee, vanilla and baking spice. The whole cluster fermentation gives way to a complex layer of eucalyptus, clove and black tea. Fine chalky tannins, mouthwatering acidity and a long finish make this a complete and memorable Pinot Noir.

Winemaker Notes

Duvarita Vineyard is always the lowest-yielding vineyard that I work with. There are a lot of factors working against it each growing season. 2021 proved to be a struggle for the vines at Duvarita, producing a mere ½ ton of grapes per acre. It turns out that grapes love a struggle, the few clusters per vine that we were able to harvest produced a Pinot of serious depth and concentration. All of the energy the vine would typically put into 8-10 clusters went straight to the few that hung on. One barrel was made and only 25 cases were produced. Truly limited.
